Maat Asking about the End of Thousands Detainees who are not Affiliated to Al Gehad Group.

 10\07\2007

Maat Center for Judicial and Constitutional Studies received with great concern declarations of Ministry of Interior about ending the file of Al Gehad organization's detainees during this year after making intellectual reviews for them included their confession about their previous faults against society.

The center regarded the security bodies' initiatives to release numbers of Al Gehad organization's detainees lately, a hopeful relief in Ministry of Interior's dealing with detention file which became huge in Egypt.

However, these initiatives raise a serious question about the end of the other detainees who are not affiliated to Al Gehad organization.

Is the essence of these declarations means that the Ministry of Interior intends to release just those detainees who are affiliated to Al Gehad? Alternatively, the declarations might means that Ministry of Interiors refuses to confess that there are other detainees in Egyptian jails do not affiliated to this group.

This matter confirmed by ignoring any talks about Al Azhar and Abd Al Moneam Read events' detainees, Kerdasa, Al Taaefa Al Mansoura, and many others. Those detainees whom the security bodies prefer to keep their detention secret until they became absent from this institution's policies.

There is many detention cases the center observed for young youth, who are still behind jails' and detention camps' walls and whose end still unknown. These   detainees do not affiliate to this group. Ibrahim Al Desoky Mohamed Al Shenawy, Tamer Ahmed Tawfeek, Saleh Abd Al Aziz, Ashraf Abd Al Moneam Ahmed Hasan, Khaled Ibrahim Mohamed Abd Al Rahman, Gamal Ismaaeal Refaay, Esam Mohamed Saad Ahmed, Abd Al Wahab Mohamed Saied, Tamer Al Saied Moselhy Ali, Mohamed Ali Bapers, Tamer Saied Al Shahaat Bayomy, Mohamed Abd Al Baset Awees……… These names are just symbols of many Egyptian youth who are detained, suffered, tortured without any crime but that they are grown up under the Marital Law life Egypt suffered sience about a quarter of century and more, and that they are life in a state where policies principles are dedicated above respecting democracy. This is because the policy of the Egyptian security officer is torture to determent, even if he is innocent and one of these country sons.

We are not against releasing any group of the political detentions in Egypt, but we are against the selective policy in dealing with rights' files-this policy which focuses the differentiate principles on the account of respecting rights and freedoms.

Sir, Minster of Interior... What those detainees and others are asked to do?

They are not affiliated to Al Gehad group to be equal with others who are released or who will be.
